At about 10:30 AM on Wednesday, the captain of 5J 546 failed to take his plane off on schedule after crew reported that a passenger cannot find a seat.
The crew assisted the man to his assigned seat, but the passenger refused to take the said sit because “he find uncomfortable sitting beside a person who wears a Duterte shirt”.
The said passenger was identified by fellow passengers as singer activist Jim Paredes – a staunch Duterte critic.

“The plane was about to move when crew noticed him standing at the center of the alley. The crew radioed the pilot and he was assisted to find one. There was a little argument between him and the female crew, but after several minutes, he was assigned a folding sit near the door”, the passenger said.
The passenger added that the Japanese man had no idea what was going on, and even asked her what happened, but he told the Japanese to just relax and wait.
The crew who assisted Paredes said that the singer strongly refused to sit beside the Japanese.
Kung mabaho, or what.
The crew added that she didn’t even know who Jim Paredes is until her fellow crew told her.
