LOOK: Sen. Bam Aquino Propose a New Bill Allowing Taxpayers to Allocate 5% of Their Taxes to CHR

Liberal Party senator and one of the most prominent member of the opposition, Sen. Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV got the ire of netizens particularly from the supporters of Pres. Rody Duterte after he pushed for the approval of his bill that would allow taxpayers to allocate five percent of their taxes to CHR.

The decision of Sen. Aquino to file a bill supporting the Commission on Rights (CHR) came out after the House of Representatives slashed the proposed P678-million for the year 2018 and just give a measly P1,000.

According to Sen. Bam his Senate Bill No. 699 or the People's Fund Bill gives taxpayers a chance to decide to which agency a portion of their taxes will go.

Sen. Aquino was quoted as saying "Galing sa pinaghirapan ng taumbayan ang ginagamit na pondo ng pamahalaan kaya nararapat lang natin silang konsultahin kung paano ito gagamitin,” Aquino said.

The bill of Sen. Bam received mixed reactions but most of the comments were negative as they lambasted the senator for his proposal, some of them even called the bill as a dumb one.

This is not the first time that Sen. Bam Aquino drew flak on social media for his bills, he made a name for himself also when he propose to pass a bill entitled, Zero Food Waste Act, which will require food businesses to give their surplus food instead of throwing them away.
