Ombudsman Affirms Criminal Charges vs. Ex-Pres. PNoy Over Mamasapano Case

The Ombudsman already dismissed the homicide charges against the former President because of lack of probable cause. Ombudsman Morales said that what Aquino did wrong was to allow then PNP Chief Alan Purisima to play a major role in the Mamasapano operation despite the official being under preventive suspension.

Due to the recent decision of the Ombudsman to affirms criminal charges against PNoy, if found guilty, he faces imprisonment of up to 10 years, with perpetual disqualification from public office.

During the Senate investigation in 2015, they found Aquino responsible for the botched operation which led to the death of fourty-four members of the PNP's Special Action Forces (SAF), known as SAF 44.

According to Atty. Abigail Valte, former President Aquino will meet with his legal team this afternoon to determine his next course of action regarding this case.
